British Cyprus

Our IVF Treatment Process

1- Step

Initial Consultation

You can either come to Cyprus for a day trip or have a free phone consultation for your first meeting with the doctor.

During the phone call, our doctor will listen to your medical history and expectations. If you have had any previous tests or lab results, they will be evaluated. Based on all these assessments, our doctor will recommend the appropriate treatment for you and provide information about the process.

2- Step

Evaluation

Patients who will start treatment in their own country are required to undergo a gynecological examination and send all their tests and lab results to our hospital. After the tests and results are evaluated by our doctors, a personalized treatment program is created for you.

If any condition that may hinder pregnancy or cause problems during pregnancy is identified, medication or surgical operation may be required before starting the process. Accurate diagnosis and personalized planning of the treatment are the keys to a successful IVF treatment. The dosage of medication you will use is determined by our doctor based on ultrasound results. If you wish, you can continue the treatment process and medication follow-up with your doctor in your country.

3- Step

Controlled Ovarian Stimulation

Treatment is started on the 2nd or 3rd day of your menstrual cycle. Hormonal medications are used to allow the eggs to reach a certain size and number. The administration of medication for egg stimulation is quite easy and you can comfortably apply it yourself. During this process, the development of follicles is regularly monitored by the doctor. The medication usage period typically lasts for 12-14 days.

4- Step

Egg Retrieval Procedure

This is the stage where the eggs that have reached the desired number and size are collected. You will need to administer the trigger injection for egg maturation approximately 36 hours before the egg retrieval procedure. Your doctor will provide you with information about the timing of the trigger injection. The egg retrieval procedure takes about 15 minutes and is performed under general anesthesia. The expectant mother does not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

5- Step

Sperm Collection

On the day of egg retrieval, sperm collection from the male partner is performed through masturbation. It is advised to abstain from sexual activity for an average of 3 days before the collection day in order to obtain an adequate amount of sperm. This allows for a higher number of viable cells in the semen sample. The collected semen sample undergoes processing in the laboratory, and the highest quality sperm are selected for the fertilization process.

6- Step

Fertilization in the Laboratory

This is the process of fertilizing the collected eggs from the female partner with the sperm obtained from the male partner using the Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) method. The fertilized eggs, called embryos, are monitored in the laboratory, and the best-developing embryos are transferred to the female partner. At the fully equipped laboratories of the British Cyprus IVF Hospital, the ICSI method, which has a higher success rate compared to conventional IVF, is used in the IVF procedures.

7- Step

Embryo Transfer

4-5 days after the egg retrieval process, the fertilized embryos are transferred to the uterus of the female partner. The transfer procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia. The female partner only needs to come to our hospital for the day of the transfer procedure.

8- Step

Pregnancy Test

After 12 days of the embryo transfer procedure, you can learn about your pregnancy outcome through a Beta hCG test.
